The Tutoring Program
improves participants learning potential by assisting them with their homework in Math, English, Reading, Science, and standardized testing which is now online due to COVID-19.
The Mentoring Program
builds participants' self confidence, self-esteem, and self worth through purposeful mentoring sessions and life skills workshops. This program is still active during COVID-19.
The Literacy Program
incorporates the parents of the children enrolled in the center. The center works with local colleges to assist parents in obtaining their GEDs. It also works to increase parental involvement in their children’s education by requiring parents to serve as volunteers in the tutorial program and the summer camp. This program is still active during COVID-19.
The Summer Camp
offers recreational activities for children in grades 2nd-6th. The purpose of the camp is to give children something constructive to do during the summer months in efforts to keep them off the streets and in a safe and caring environment. The center counts on local businesses and community supporters to sponsor children who cannot afford to attend the camp due to finances. The camp targets children from the surrounding Mid-South area which includes Western Tennessee, Eastern Arkansas and Northern Mississippi. This program is still active during COVID-19.
